INCUBATION POLICY

1

Introduction:

The Incubation Policy is established to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and the translation of research outcomes into tangible products, services, or solutions. This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for incubating promising ideas, projects, or startups emerging from the Tamil Research Center, the Library and Information Science Research Center, and the Physical Education Research Center at Ganesar College of Arts and Science, Melasivapuri.

2

Eligibility Criteria:

Projects or startups eligible for incubation must be based on research outcomes or innovative ideas generated within the research centers.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential for commercialization, societal impact, or scalability of their ventures.

Preference may be given to projects addressing local or regional challenges and aligning with the college’s mission and priorities.

3

Application and Selection Process:

Interested individuals or teams must submit a detailed proposal outlining the innovation, market potential, implementation plan, and resource requirements.

Proposals will be evaluated based on criteria such as novelty, feasibility, market demand, team capability, and potential societal impact.

A selection committee comprising representatives from the research centers, academia, industry, and entrepreneurship ecosystem will review and select projects for incubation.

4

Incubation Support:

Selected projects will receive access to incubation facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and technical resources available within the college premises.

Mentoring and advisory support will be provided by faculty members, industry experts, and experienced entrepreneurs to guide startups through various stages of development.

Financial support in the form of seed funding, grants, or access to funding networks may be provided to eligible projects based on merit and availability of resources

5

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR):

Intellectual property generated during the incubation period will be governed by the college’s IPR policy, ensuring appropriate protection and commercialization strategies are implemented.

Researchers and innovators will retain ownership of their intellectual property, with provisions for revenue sharing or licensing agreements as per mutual agreements.

6

Monitoring and Evaluation:

Incubated projects will be monitored regularly to track progress, milestones achieved, challenges faced, and support required.

Periodic reviews and evaluations will be conducted to assess the viability, scalability, and impact of incubated ventures, with necessary interventions provided as needed.

7

Graduation and Exit:

Incubated startups will graduate from the incubation program upon achieving predetermined milestones, such as product development, market validation, or securing external funding.

Graduated startups will have the option to continue their operations independently or collaborate with the college, alumni network, or industry partners for further growth and scaling.

8

Collaboration and Networking:

Incubated ventures will be encouraged to collaborate with industry partners, investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and market opportunities.

Networking events, workshops, seminars, and industry visits will be organized to facilitate knowledge exchange, partnership building, and market exposure.

9

Sustainability and Impact:

The incubation program will strive to promote sustainable and inclusive entrepreneurship, supporting ventures that create positive social, environmental, and economic impact.

Success stories and best practices from incubated ventures will be showcased to inspire and motivate future generations of researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

10

Review and Revision:

This Incubation Policy will be subject to periodic review and revision to incorporate feedback, address emerging challenges, and align with evolving needs and priorities of the research centers and the college.

Conclusion: The Incubation Policy outlined above underscores the commitment of Ganesar College of Arts and Science to fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer. By providing incubation support to promising projects and startups emerging from the Tamil Research Center, the Library and Information Science Research Center, and the Physical Education Research Center, the college aims to catalyze the translation of research outcomes into real-world solutions that benefit society and contribute to economic development.
